BBQ Ribs On A Gas Grill

For years we par-baked ribs in the oven wrapped in foil and just finished them off on the grill. Since meeting Mike Mills of 17th Street Barbecue we have learned from the best! One of Mike’s first impressions of GrillGrates was that they would be ideal for ribs for the backyard griller (as opposed to the Smoker crowd) People always ask Mike how to do ribs on a grill, and his answer had been- it’s hard to do, and he suggests smoking. The added protection of GrillGrates makes all the difference. Since meeting Mike, grilled ribs have become a staple in our home.

I channeled Diva Q with this Rack of Pork. DOUBLE SEAR with a 1/2 TWIST! Seared on the Kamado 1st, them roasted on the Yoder. Then off to the cutting board to cut into chops, then a final sear on the Kamado Joe- Over the top juicy!

Date Night Country Ribs

Here is another Grate recipe from our friend Ken Fisher over at Date Night Doins. Be sure to check out his website for lots of other fine recipes. Ken cooked his ribs on a pellet grill but you can do it on a gas or charcoal grill. Also, feel free to use any BBQ rub and sauce you would like.

We wanted to do an extra spicy appetizer wrapped in bacon, of course, for game day. Happily we just got some wonderful and extra zingy sauces from All Spice Café, so we knew we could put their Cayenne Habanero Sauce to good use. This is a variation of our “Chipotle Bacon Bombs” using hot sausage balls instead of ground beef. You can use mild sausage if you prefer, but Ken wanted hot. It didn’t have a lot of ingredients, but it sure had a lot of zip. These guys are OFF THE HOOK!!! Eat them off a stick, out of hand or in a sandwich, with or without more sauce. The flavors of the sausage, bacon and Cayenne Habanero Sauce jump together with the flavors of the grill!!! Patti thinks these should be served with a lot of vanilla ice cream…just sayin’.
