Game Day Grilling with GrillGrates

Game Day Grilling with GrillGrates

Feed your guests and get back to the game with great grilled food!

Ask any college student and they’ll agree: the key to success for any occasion is the pregame. Avoid getting stuck on the grill (or even worse, in the kitchen) at game time. A few days before the game, use our quick-and-easy recipes as a guide for your grocery list. The day of the game you’ll want to make sure you prep anything you can ahead of time and get grilling early. This will ensure your fellow fans are fed and that you’re settled into your favorite recliner before kickoff!

Hit the Freezer Section at the Supermarket

Grilling appetizers is a fun, fast, and easy way to mix it up with a variety of offerings. With so many tasty prepackaged finger foods at the grocery store you are sure to find something for everyone! Just think of the fun serving grilled cheese sticks, pot-stickers, ravioli and quesadillas to your guests!

Here are three basic ideas to make your Super Bowl grilling a fun and easy game day party. All of these items should be grilled at a medium temperature of about 400°F at the GrillGrate surface.

  • Cheese Sticks and Bread Sticks make easy appetizers right from the freezer to the grill. Medium to low heat- you’ll know when they’re done. Serve with marinara or pizza sauce.
  • Fresh large Ravioli (we love Costco for these) is another easy finger food appetizer. Coat lightly in olive oil, grill at 400F.  Add a simple dipping sauce such as marinara or vodka sauce.  Raviolis crisp and puff-up when grilled at medium heat.
  • Potstickers are easy to grill with GrillGrates. Frozen or not with a little coat of oil to the grill at medium heat.  Potstickers usually come with their own sauces or you can serve them with another Asian-style sauce like teriyaki or soy sauce.

Quesadillas Are Great On the Grill

Quesadillas on the grill are a the perfect platform to put salsas, sour cream, guacamole etc.

Keep it simple with Cheese Quesadillas….

  • Two flour tortillas with a cheese mix in the center is a 5-minute grill at 400F.
  • An olive oil mister is really handy for applying the oil.
  • A couple of turns for nice grill marks and stiffness.
  • Add toppings on the grill such as peppers and onions or off the grill such as salsa, guacamole and sour cream.

Throw a Pizza Party for the Super Bowl

There are several par-baked crusts you can purchase at the supermarket, make your own or buy the pre-made pizzas and grill them at 400F.

Pizza Grilling Tip: At temps above 400F the bottom will burn before the toppings are hot.  Lower the heat to allow the toppings to heat through thoroughly and the crust will stay golden brown and crispy.

We’ve got some awesome pizza recipes that will wow the crowd:

Streamline your Super Bowl Sunday with goodies on the grill and you’ll get to enjoy the game too!
